Presque Isle Advance Owners - Richard, Riconda, Jordyn, Kelleigh Lamb Lake Huron's sunrise side home to hometown newspaper operation

Presque Isle Newspapers, publishes the Presque Isle County Advance and the Onaway Outlook from its offices in Rogers City and Onaway, Michigan. Each are weekly newspapers which serve Presque Isle County, Michigan, USA. We are located on Lake Huron, about 50 miles south of the Mackinaw Bridge. Circulation remains very high at our newspapers as around 90 percent of the households in the county receive at least one of our two weekly papers.

We are concerned with our mission of providing the best possible local news for our area. Community newspapers, such as our two, must concentrate on the job of serving our residents by producing the local news they need and want.

That has been the mission since this newspaper was founded in 1878 and remains so today. This website is an extension of that mission. The Advance celebrated its 125th year in 2003 capping the year with a special publication.

PIN is owned by Richard and Riconda Lamb (pictured with daughters Jordyn and Kelleigh), who purchased the operation from the Richard Milliman family of Lansing in 1998. Richard had worked as general manager for Mr. Milliman since 1989 when Richard moved back to Rogers City, his hometown.

We are proud of the talented and dedicated staff who produce the two newspapers. The staff is led by general manager Beth Kowalski and managing editor Peter Jakey.

We are pleased to have reporter Amanda Polaski, copy editor Peggy Schaudt, as well as composition and office staffers Shari Fleming, Ann Przybyla and Tina Derry, as well as sales representatives Cella Bade in Rogers City and Deb Shiel in Onaway. Sue Bobola is our staffer in the Onaway office.

Following a February 12, 2006 fire which destroyed our historic building in Rogers City, we were forced to move to a temporary location for 10 months. Due to great efforts from the staff and a wonderfully supportive community, we didn’t miss an issue, as we went to press three days after the fire and continued publishing each week after that. In December 2006 we moved into our new office at the corner of Third and Erie Streets in Rogers City. You can take a virtual tour of our beautiful new home elsewhere on this site.

If you wish to subscribe to either the Advance or the Outlook, we ask that you call us at (989) 734-2105 to get the rate for your area.
