Lillian Marie Prow
Lillian Marie Prow, 85, a lifelong resident of Onaway, died at Nash Manor Sunday, October 23, 2016. Born in Castleton Township in Barry County June 27, 1931, Lillian was the daughter of Harold and Arlene (Becraft) Swan. She married Arthur Prow August 15, 1950 in Onaway.
A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Lillian made a loving home for her family. Her door was always open for a visit with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake or a slice of pie that she had freshly baked. A fantastic cook and a wonderful baker, Lillian enjoyed making meals for her family.
Her home was the gathering place for the family and every weekend they met at Lillian’s for one of her delicious home-cooked meals. During deer season she would rise early to cook a big breakfast for all of her hunters and send them off with some of her wonderful baked goods.
At the end of the growing season, she canned from the large garden she planted each summer. After the loss of her husband, Lillian retired from cooking and baking and enjoyed having her meals at Wood Winds where she also enjoyed visiting with friends from the community. Lillian was a long-time member of the Atlanta Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Lillian loved watching her grandchildren when they were small. She read them stories, played with them and gave them her undivided attention. She was a wonderful daughter; dedicated to her parents, she visited them nea
Surviving Lillian are her two sons, Gary (Linda) and Michael (Jacqueline) Prow, both of Onaway; two daughters, Cathy Curtis of Onaway and Phyllis (Bill) Speed of Ocqueoc; grandchildren, Gary Jr., Kevin, Tracy, Julie, Michael, Timmothy, Stacy, and Scott; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Gary) Zampich of Millersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
