Allen “Al” David Mishler

Allen “Al” David Mishler, 70, of Onaway, died March 4, 2022 at his home in the Lynn Street Manor in Onaway. He was born November 25, 1951 in Reed City, to his dear mother Matilda Emma Augusta Mishler (Wolgast) and Forrest Mishler.

Pool player, pizza maker, chain saw slinger. Al grew up in Onaway and lived there his entire life. He adored small-town living; his favorite place on Earth was in the woods, but he wasn’t afraid to hop on an airplane to go visit his daughter in the big city. Al was charming and our favorite conman; he had a giant heart and even his rough-at-times exterior could not hide the light that constantly shined within him.

Al opened and operated the Pizzacade in Onaway for many years, and it became a hometown staple; a place for kids to go and thrive. He could be found endlessly tossing pizza dough, teaching local children to become pool sharks, or tossing a baseball with his daughter.

Allen was an avid member of pool league, a skilled builder, and a devoted lumberjack. He loved baseball, campfires, Westerns, timeless music, throwing dice, spending time near the water, and most of all, people. He touched countless lives in our precious community.

Allen is survived by his beloved daughter, Angela Mishler (Salazar) of Lansing; a brother, Stanley (Jeanette) Mishler; a sister Sandra (Robert) VerDuin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He had a special place in his heart for Angie Derosia and all the wonderful people in his community.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dennis Mishler; and his kitty, Aurora.
