Grace Charlotte Tucker

Grace Charlotte Tucker went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Saturday, July 1, 2023. She was 92 years old.

Grace was born December 18, 1930 to Thelma and David Berggen in Detroit. She graduated from Denby High School. In Detroit she met and married Laurel Tucker. They moved to his hometown in Tower where they raised their children until Laurel’s death in 1973.

Grace worked for Walter and May Reuther at their lodge on Black Lake. She continued working there for the UAW Family Education Center until her retirement. She taught herself to make cakes; especially wedding cakes for many people in the area. Grace was known for her baking skills, cinnamon rolls, bread and pies.

Her favorite hobby was

painting. She did many portraits of local couples, as well as nature scenes.

Most of all Grace loved her family. She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Nichols and Marie (Bruce) Wolf; grandchildren, Jesse (Emilija) Wolf, Danielle (Mark) Johnson, Bree (Tim) Kondrat, Lara (Chuck) Woodward and Laurel Tucker III; eight great-grandchildren; her special niece, Jan Comfort; and friend Janet Stranaly. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Marie; husband, Laurel; a son, Laurel II; a brother, Richard; a sister, Betty; and parents Thelma and David.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the fall. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tower.
