Arthur “Art” L. Hilla

Arthur “Art” L. Hilla, 94, of Rogers City Passed away peacefully at home June 25, 2024. 

He was born in Rogers City April 17, 1930 to Louis and Veronica (Orban) Hilla. 

Art graduated from Rogers City High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. On October 23, 1954 he married Virginia Pilarski at St. Dominic Catholic Church. He spent his working career as a machinist at Calcite retiring in 1995. From 1966 – 1969 he owned and operated Pinewood Tavern. He enjoyed bowling, rabbit hunting, deer hunting, repairing clocks and buying and selling hunting properties. Art remained extremely active during his long life. 

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; five sons, Mark (Dawn) Hilla of Rogers City, Larry (Sandra) Hil

la of Battle Creek, Dennis (Lori) Hilla of Millersburg, Greg (Christine) Hilla of Mecosta and Robert (Shannon) Hilla of Alto; six grandchildren, Tyler (Michelle) Hilla, Clayton (Danielle) Hilla, Jessica (Robert) Henley, Jason (Diana) Hilla, Lindsay Hilla and Hunter Hilla; 10 great-grandchildren, Leah, Addy, Emily, Lincoln, Carter, Gracie, Kaily, Autumn, Lilah and Maggie; and his sister, Louise (Richard) Kuznicki. 

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Veronica; and a brother, Eugene (Leona) Hilla.
