Mary Jane (Hasenburg) Graesser

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Mary Jane (Hasenburg) Graesser, who the lord called home on December 10, 2025 at age 92.  She was born on February 16, 1933 in Rogers City, MI as the only child to Ervin and Kathleen Hasenburg, owners of Hasenburg Grocery. 

 Mary Jane was valedictorian of Rogers City High School and continued her education at the University of Michigan graduating with an RN degree from the School of Nursing and St. Joseph College with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Arts.  While at the University of Michigan she met her future husband at the Michigan Sailing Club.  Mary Jane lived a life of service volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul Society, Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, tour guide at the State of Michigan capitol, St. Gerard Church lector, volunteer and honor guard.  She had an active life, quick wit, enjoyed traveling and visited all 7 continents.  She will be

deeply missed.

 Mary Jane’s greatest love was her children.  She is survived by Nancy, David (Michelle and daughter Emma), Steve (Melissa and children Mitchell, Aimee and Emmett), Carolyn (Kevin and daughters Lindsey and Lauren), Linda, Susan’s children Justin and Jessica and four great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by daughters Kris (and daughter Megan) and Susan (and husband Guy) and ex-husband Otto. 

 Services will be held on Wednesday January 7, 2026 at St. Gerard Church (4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917) with visitation at 9:30 am, mass at 10:30 am and lunch immediately following mass.
