Marci was a 1947 graduate of Rogers City High School. Prior to becoming a mother she worked for the District Health Department and for Doctors Arscott, Jackson, and Ries. Marci was a wonderful homemaker, well-known and loved for her sewing, knitting and baking – affectionately called “Cookie Grandma” by many of her great-grandchildren. She loved golfing, playing euchre and spitzer, and hosting and attending events for friends and family. She will be remembered fondly for her encouraging cards sent to friends, loved ones and even strangers. She volunteered at the Presque Isle County Food Pantry, the Rogers City Area Senior & Community Center, and Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, a member of “Circle V,” and was also in charge of the Christmas “Giving Tree” for several years. Royden and Marci wintered in Ocala, Florida for many years, making lifelong friendships with neighbors and fellow golfers. Beginning in 2022 Marci made her home at Independence Village of Grand Ledge where she became an integral member of that community. There she served as the unofficial “greeter” to all new residents, ensuring everyone felt welcomed and loved. Her memory will be cherished by her close friends in both Rogers City and Grand Ledge, especially by her very good friend Roger Nelson.

Marci’s family would especially like to thank the staff a

t Independence Village, the Corso Health Caregivers, and hospice team members for taking such good care of her; and the pastoral staff at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Lansing, where she worshipped the past few years. “The family would also like to thank Ted Beck of Beck Funeral Home for his continued support during our time of grief.”

Friends and loved ones of Marci will be received at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rogers City Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m. to enjoy cookies and coffee with the family until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m., the Revs. Dr. Greg and Karen Zurakowski officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church of Rogers City, the Sunrise Side Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
