Posen ran out to an 8-0 lead in the first minutes, as senior guard Jenna Hincka hit three quick baskets. The lead went to 12-4 at the end of the first quarter as Sam Lenard nailed a shot at the buzzer.

With several starters on the bench with foul trouble in the second quarter, Posen saw its lead nearly slip away. Brooke Ciarkowski’s triple with 5:01 were their the only points Posen registered in the stanza. The defense remained sound, as Cedarville scored only seven points to cut the lead to 15-11 at the half.

“We got in foul trouble and had a lot of non-scorers on the floor in the second quarter. We were just trying to hang on and have the lead at halftime,” said coach Karl Momrik.

“It was great defense again tonight against the tenth-ranked team in the state. That is a testimonial to a bunch of hardworking kids.”

But a charged Viking squad took charge in the second half. After a Cedarville bucket on its first possession, the crowd came alive as the Viking press set up a 15-0 run over the next four minutes. That run spelled doom for the visiting Cedarville team, as the lead stayed at 20 points or more the rest of the way.
