Posen volleyball team looking for turn-around against Atlanta
It was a tough week for the Viking volleyball team as they lost matches against Mio and Hillman, and now face Atlanta, a team that swept the Vikings in straight games January 20. Since taking a 4-1 North Star League record to Atlanta last month, the Vikes have dropped four of their last five league matchups, and are now 5-5.
Posen lost at Hillman 3-15 and 5-15 Monday and against Mio last Thursday.
THE VIKES won the first game against the visiting Thunderbolts 15-13, but dropped the next two, 6-15 and 13-15. While both teams struggled from the serving line, three Vikings combined for 14 kills against Mio. Shannon Ciarkowski had seven, followed by Jaime Litwinski with four and Kyrie Kuffel with three.

The JV squad had its work cut out for them against Hillman, but still defeated the Tigers in straight games. The final scores were 15-13 and 17-15.
JACKIE SZCZEROWSKI had one ace, four kills, two digs and seven assists, while Dorothy Romel had two digs, three kills, three aces, and five assists. Jill Krajniak led the JV with four aces and was second in assists with six. Amanda Pieczynski had five assists.
Against Mio, the junior team took the first game 15-3, lost the second 8-15, but took the clincher 15-11. It was win number nine. Szczerowski had five kills and five sets, while Beth Julian had five digs, four kills, and a team leading seven aces. Krajniak contributed 19 sets, while Liz Wozniak had 10.
