Jacqueline “Jackie” “Coobie” Georgiana Wirgau
Jacqueline “Jackie” “Coobie” Georgiana Wirgau, 80, of Rogers City passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 25, 2022.
She was born May 17, 1941 in Belknap Township to Kurt and Ida (Gohl) Kreft.
Jackie “Coobie” graduated from Rogers City High School in 1959.
She was the first woman to sail the Great Lakes with United States Steel, Calcite Fleet where she worked her way up and became a steward. Coobie enjoyed spending time with her family, canning, cooking, camping and homemade pizza parties at the farm.
She is survived by five children, Deborah (Robert) LaTulip of Harrison, Vicki Kasuba of Rogers City, Sheri (Bret) Darling of Rogers City, Laura (Jeff) Mertz of Rogers City and Kurt (Annette) Wirgau of Rogers City; 12 grandchildren, Laura Lee LaTulip, Lacey LaTulip, Benjamin LaTulip, John (Madi) LaTulip, Kelsie Kasuba, Taylor Darling, Bran- don Darling, Sheana (Jacob) Kamyszek, Matthew (Desiree) Mertz, Amber Wirgau, Ashton Wirgau and Amanda Wirgau; seven great-grandchildren, Brody Birgel, Carley Birgel, Branson LaTulip, Vivian Kasuba, Lilah Dar- ling, Xander Kamyszek and Dominic Kamyszek; and two great-grandchildren on the way; one sister, B
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt and Ida Kreft; a sister, Dor- othy Glentz; and her brother, Kenneth Kreft.
Visitation and prayer service were at the Beck Funeral Home Monday.
Visitation continued at the funeral home Tuesday through time of her funeral with the Rev. David Weirauch officiating.
Memorials may be given to Hospice Compassus in memory of Jackie Wirgau.
