Wm. Michael Higgins, “Mike

Wm. Michael Higgins, “Mike,” of Cascade, Montana, formerly of Port Huron, passed Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in Fort Benton, Montana. The son of Bill and Mabel (Wilson) Higgins, Mike was born on the 11th of October 1949 in Port Huron.  

He was the grandson of Jake and Thora Higgins of Onaway and William and Bernice Wilson of Afton. He is survived by his brothers, John, Terry and Patrick; as well as nephews, Steve, Johnny and Mark; and nieces, Anna and Beth. 

In his early years, Mike lived in Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Alaska while his father served in the U.S. Coast Guard.  

Eventually they returned to Port Huron where Mike graduated from Northern High School in 1968. He went on to begin his career at Chrysler Corporation where he spent 30 years as a plant protection security officer retiring in 2001. 

Mike was as avid shooter and hunter of small game, deer, antelope, bear and American buffalo. 

He had numerous dogs as hunting partners and pets that he cherished and loved dearly. He was made master Mason at Pine Grove Masonic Lodge No. 11 in Port Huron. Having believed in

Almighty God his entire life, on the 28th of August 2022, Mike personally accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and made Him Lord of his life. Mike will be remembered as a kind and generous gentleman.

Visitation will be held at Chagnon Funeral Home Today (Thursday September 8) from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m.  Mike’s nephew, The Rev. Steve Boettger will officiate. 

A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
