Robert “Bob” G. Hollar
Robert “Bob” G. Hollar passed away peacefully August 15, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Detroit January 24, 1932, Bob was the son of Arthur and Marie (Major) Hollar. Bob attended Michigan State University where he majored in economics and finance. He participated in ROTC training and met the love of his life, Carol Johnson.
Graduating in 1954, he married Carol one year later and they moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Throughout college and the military Bob and Carol created enduring friendships, which lasted through the years.
After completing his military service, the couple moved to Grosse Pointe where Bob began a career as an accountant that propelled him into a successful profession as a stockbroker in Boulder, Colorado. Years later he acquired the affectionate name “Bob Schwab.” Also known as “Bobby George,” as Carol would call him through the years. He transitioned in
Bob and Carol enjoyed many years together traveling around the world, often in the company of good friends. They landed in northern Michigan where they had the good fortune to make many more lifelong friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 70 years; his daughter, Leigh (Boyt) Hollar-Johnson; a son, John (Suzanne) Hollar; grandchildren, William (Rebecca) Hollar and Samantha (Niels Aerts) Hollar; and great-granddaughter, Mavis Hollar.
He was dearly loved by many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arthur; and sister-in-law, Dorothy. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
