Julia Anna Donajkowski

Julia Anna Donajkowski, 101, of Posen passed away peacefully with family at her side Friday, May 22, 2026. 

She was born June 18, 1924, in Detroit to Ladislaus and Rose (Gryka) Samborski. 

On December 1, 1943, she married Valentine Donajkowski at St. Casimir Catholic Church. During World War II she worked at Cadillac Motors in Detroit polishing parts for B-17 engines. Following the war, she and Valentine returned to Posen lived their life on the family farm. She loved to crochet, make quilts, read and go fishing. Julia was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church; its Rosary Sodality and the Posen Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 7804 Auxiliary. 

She is survived by four children, Gerald (Rita) Donajkowski of Posen, Elizabeth (Charles) Kelyman of Mt. Morris, Leonard (Irene) Donajkowski of Posen and David (Diane)Donajkowski of Mt. Morris; a daughter-in-law, Rose Donajkowski of Flint; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. 

Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Valentine; a son, Leo; and two sisters, Emily Bertrand and Helen Kososki.

On Thursday, May 28, the St. Casimir Rosary Sodality and the Posen VFW Post 7804 Auxiliary will lead the rosary at 9 a.m. followed by visitation until time of Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charlie Donajkowski officiating at St. Casimir Catholic Church. 

Burial will follow at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Casimir Catholic Church in memory of Julia Donajkowski.
