Competitive fundraiser slated for young accident victims
The community is gathering together to help out the families of Erin Schoolcraft and Joshua Hall-Tennant, after their tragic accidents. With the costs associated with traveling, lodging and meals to be with loved ones in the hospital, or therapy, it has put a strain on their pocket books.
?The Onaway student council is putting together a competition bottle and can drive between the high school, middle school, elementary and Millersburg schools for the families of Erin and Joshua,? said Michelle Ellenberger, Council President.
?How it will work, the kids collect bottles and cans and bring them to their classes. If you would like to help out, the general public may drop off bottles and cans at the following locations: Village Corner, Carter?s, Tom?s IGA or Village Mini Mart in Millersburg.
These business?s will ear mark the bottles and cans and keep a running tally for the drive. The drive starts this Monday through Saturday,? Said Kevin Welklin, School Board Member.
?People are coming into the school and donating money for the families,? said Diane Peterman, secretary in the superintendents office.
There also will be an all you can eat spaghetti dinner before the Onaway vs Rogers City basketball games January 31, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Onaway school cafeteria. All the food and drink has been donated. With 100 percent of the profits going to help the two families. .
