Courtesy Travel suffers structural fire Monday
Courtesy Travel, located between the Michigan Secretary of State office and Showcase Homes on 248 North Bradley Highway, caught fire Monday at 12:34 p.m. during cold, blustery conditions. The cause of the fire was listed as accidental, but final disposition on the case is pending, according to fire chief Tim Luebke.
The Rogers City Fire Department spent one hour at the scene and used 150 gallons of water to extinguish the flames. According to the RCPD, flames were coming from the side door and were immediately extinguished with a fire extinguisher. The building was ventilated and a search was made for any further extension of the fire, but none was discovered.
There was smoke damage to Showcase Homes, and the Michigan Secretary of State office, in addition to Courtesy Travel. The RCFD was assisted by the Rogers City Police Department, the Michigan State Police-Rogers City detachment, Allied EMS, and the Posen Fire Department.
A total of 16 volunteer firefighters responded and four pieces of equipment were used. There were no injuries.
