RCHS Class of 2003 includes three 4.0 students

RCHS Principal James Connell has announced the honor graduates for the class of 2003. Three students with perfect 4.0 grade point averages will share the honor of co-valedictorian: Mackenzie Grulke, Rachel Quade, and Alison Schuiteman. The honor of salutatorian will go to Joe Berg with a 3.955 GPA.

Mackenzie Grulke is the son of Mark and Pam Grulke. He is treasurer of the National Honor Society and a three-year member. He also has been involved with Natural Helpers, Drama Club, Key Club, Ski Club, and was captain of the Knowledge Bowl. Grulke is a 12-year member of the Boy Scouting program and earned his Eagle rank. In sports, Grulke has been a member of the track team, baseball team, (academic all state), a four-year member and co-captain of the football team where he earned all conference his junior and senior years. He is a four-year member of the wrestling team where he has served as captain and conference champion and regional qualifier. Grulke earned the John Florip Award for outstanding freshman wrestler. Following graduation, Grulke plans to attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in pharmacy.

Rachel Quade is the daughter of Dale and Christine Quade. She has served as class secretary, the Key Club president, a member of Natural Helpers, the Ski Club, the National Honor Society, Tang Soo Do martial arts, and participated in HOBY (Hugh O?Brian for Youth) seminar. Quade plans to continue her studies at Michigan Technological University where she will study mechanical engineering. She also plans to study overseas for a summer.

Alison Schuiteman is the daughter of Dr. Jay and Deb Schuiteman. She has served as vice president of the National Honor Society and has been the class president for the past three years. She is the editor-in-chief of the 2003 yearbook and has participated in athletics at RCHS as well as dance and the Ski Club. She is the reigning Miss Rogers City. Schuiteman plans to study pre-med at either Michigan State University or Aquinas College in the fall.

Joseph Berg is the son of Mark and Evelyn Berg. He has participated in track, the jazz band, is a member of the National Honor Society

, does volunteer work with Chat Club, and has been a member of the Key Club, the Rogers City Band and Knowledge Bowl. Berg plans to attend Alpena Community College in the fall to pursue a career in construction technologies.

Other honor students include: Rachel Brege, Lauren Fairbanks, Adam Zinke, Renee Romel, Cody Hurst, Emily Hollabaugh, Leah Claus, Charity Lewis, Amanda Wodkowski, Amy Hopp, Theresa Bellmore, Samantha Kelly, Angle Asam, Danielle Farmer, Justin Grulke, Joshua Crawford, Anthony Fleming, Michael Nowak, Megan Grulke, Branden Kania, Andrea Rhode, Nicholas Neumann, Lindsay Horn, and Justin Bruning.
