Hurons taken out at state semifinals

The highly anticipated moment arrived at the MHSAA Class C volleyball semifinals and Huron hopes and dreams of a 1988 repeat state final championship was dashed.

The North Muskegeon Norsemen swept the efforts clean in two short games, 15-8,and 15-5 Saturday at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.

It was a tear-jerking dissappointment for a powerful Huron team, who played so valiantly in the regionals and the quarterfinals.

Coach Krisy Smolinski said of the team, “These girls have nothing to be ashamed of.”
