Annual Chamber dinner a success

The Onaway Area Chamber of Commerce conducted its annual dinner and meeting on Saturday, February 14 at St. Paul Hall in Onaway.

The event was attended by more than 120 people who enjoyed dinner catered by Manzana?s Deli of Onaway and were out for an evening of entertainment. As the event fell on Valentine?s Day, the chamber did not feature a guest speaker this year but had entertainment by Billy Jewell and his band.

?It was a great time, we had nice door prizes and raffles. It was a good night out for the community,? said chamber executive director Bev Brougham.

As tradition goes, the Fourth of July grand parade marshals were selected from a variety of nominations. Ra

y and Ruth Szymoniak will have that honor this summer.

New board members were selected including Josh Tierney, Joan Moran, Ed Baumgarten and Dave Kolasa.

Special awards were also handed out by the chamber of commerce for business of the year, citizens of the year and civic group of the year. Schell Auto Center was honored as the business of the year as owners Bob and Lynn Schell accepted that award graciously from the chamber and the community. Tony and Roberta Matelski of Tower were honored as the citizens of the year while Onaway Area Little League was honored as the civic group of the year.

Next year?s annual dinner and meeting will be held on the second Saturday of February.
