Condensed Minutes

January 4, 2016

The regular meeting of the Board of Road Commissioners for Presque Isle County was held at the Road Commission office at 657 South Bradley, Rogers City, Michigan. Chairman Charles Rhode called the meeting to order at 8:38 a.m.

Board Members Present: Charles Rhode, Thomas Catalano, Ronald Bischer

Also Present: Supt/Mgr. Smigelski, Clerk Wirgau, County Road Engineer Mark Straley

Visitors: Two

Minutes:

A motion was approved to accept minutes from December 28, 2015 meeting as presented.

Ayes: All

Accounts Payable:

Motion by Catalano (Bischer) to approve the January 4, 2016 accounts payable in the amount of $7,099.05

Ayes: Catalano, Rhode, Bischer

Supt./Mgr Report:

• There is a MTA Meeting Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ocqueoc Township hall.

• Crews worked fourteen hours on December 29 and extra hours on December 30 to clean up from the snowstorm which produced between 10 to 15 inches of snow.

• A Federal Highway bill has been enacted and further information is being sought for an explanation of the legislation and how it will impact the Federal Aid funding.

9:00 am – Bid Opening – Tandem Truck

Sealed bids for the purchase of one tandem truck were opened. A motion was approved to accept all bids.

Old Business:

County Road Engineer Straley reported on a land parcel being offered for sale for gravel mining.

New Business:

A motion was approved authorizing Supt./Mgr Smigelski to attend an AGRIP Conference March 6 – 9, 2016 in Nashville, with travel and lodging expenses to be paid by CRASIF.

A motion was approved acknowledging Thomas Catalano as a duly appoint

ed Road Commissioner and as owner of Catalano Forest Products Inc. and Forest Management Systems Inc.

The next meetings dates are January 18, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. and February 1, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.

There being no further business it was moved by Bischer (Catalano) to adjourn the meeting at 9:55 a.m.
