Minutes of Board of Education
January 18, 2016
A regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education of the Posen Consolidated School District No. 9 was held on January 18, 2016 in the High School Library. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Board President Ken Wozniak.
Members Present: Jesse Chappa, Dennis Budnick, Andrew Stone, Kenneth Wozniak, Anna Soik, Danielle Kowalski and Brian Konieczny.
Members Absent:
Also Present: Michelle Wesner, Superintendent, Lucia Bruski, Recording Secretary, Visitors – 2.
Pledge of Allegiance
Reorganization
Election of Officers for the 2016 calendar year – Officers Elected
President – Kenneth Wozniak, Vice President – Andrew Stone, Secretary – Jesse Chappa, Treasurer – Dennis Budnick.
Moved and supported that the Board of Education hold its regular meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Ayes: All.
Motion Carried.
Moved and supported that First Merit Bank, Posen Branch, Calcite Credit Union, Posen Branch and Michigan Liquid Asset Fund be official Depositories for School Funds.
Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Moved and supported that Presque Isle Newspapers, Inc. be designated Newspaper for publication of school announcements.
Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Moved and supported to appoint Thomas & Delaney to serve as Legal Counsel for the 2016 calendar year.
Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Moved and supported to appoint Alletta Misiak, Lucia Bruski and Michelle Wesner to serve as assistant Secretaries for the Board of Education.
Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Moved and supported to appoint Superintendent Michelle Wesner and Alletta Misiak as assistant treasurers for the Board of Education.
Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Moved and supported to approve the minutes of the regular monthly meeting of December 21, 2015
Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Moved and supported to approve the 2015-2016 bills for payment.
Roll Call Vote: Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Moved and supported to approve the 2015-2016 Sinking Fund bills for payment.
Roll Call Vote: Ayes: All. Motion Carried.
Communications
School Board Recognition Month – January is designated School Board Recognition month. We appreciate all the hard work you do. Members were presented with a token of appreciation from the student council.

M-Step Scores
The Board was presented with the M-Step results. The scores were very impressive when compared to State results.
Administrative Report – Michelle Wesner
Winter Homecoming
Homecoming will take place on Saturday, February 6, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., with crowning taking place at 8:00 p.m..

New Business
Cell Phone Policy
The Board conducted a First Reading of the revised Cell Phone Policy. There was one change to the proposed policy. The second reading will take place at the February meeting and the Policy will be adopted at that time.
Jr. High Volleyball Coach
Moved and supported to hire Ariane Romel as the Jr. High Volleyball Coach with Laurie Maynard as her assistant. This is a voluntary position.

Information Items
The First Semester was scheduled to end on Friday, January 15 but with there being a snow day it was moved to Monday, January 18. The 2nd Semester began on Tuesday, January 19.
