Ivan Emil Schaedig

Ivan Emil Schaedig, 84, of Alpena, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center- Alpena surrounded by his loving family.

Ivan was born January 28, 1932 in Rogers City to Gustav and Orianna (Peetz) Schaedig and except for time spent with the U.S. Army, 24th Infantry in Korea, spent his life in the Rogers City and Alpena area. On July 16, 1960 he married the former Corinne Horn at St. John Lutheran Church in Rogers City. He was a production control manager at Besser Company retiring after 36 years of service. An active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ivan sang in the choir, was a lay minister and preached at Birchwood Meadows for 11 years. He also was a former member of the Besser Male Chorus, the Besser Riffle League and the Alpena Kiwanis Club.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Corinne, three children; Scott (Vicki Bendig) Schaedig, Kristine (Andrew Smolinski) Reed both of Alpena and Tim (Amy) Schaedig of Palatine, Illinois; six grandchildren; Hayden, Tate, Sydney, Mike, Wesley and Nathan; and a brother, Merlin (Shirley) Schaedig of Rogers City.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Ferris Schaedig.

Ivan Schaedig was at McWilliams Funeral Home, Alpena where friends called Friday and Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church until the time of the funeral service with the Rev. Joshua Schultz officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2496.
