MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ROGERS CITY CITY COUNCIL

HELD IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON NOVEMBER 22, 2016

Mayor Sobeck presided and called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

PRESENT –Adair, Bielas, McLennan, Nowak, and Sobeck.

APPROVAL OF  MINUTES

Nowak/Bielas, that the minutes of the Regular Council Meeting of November 1, 2016 be approved as written.

ROLL CALL: Ayes – All, the motion carried.

CITY CLERK’S REPORT:

CHECK AND INVOICE APPROVAL:

McLennan/Adair, that the following total fund expenditures be recognized as payments made and payments to be made, in the amount of $579,727.93 and the Mayor is authorized to sign the check register.

ROLL CALL: Ayes – All, the motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:  AUDIT REPORT

RESOLUTION NO. 2016-99

Nowak/Bielas, that the City’s Fiscal Year 2015-2016 audited financial statements be accepted and that a copy of the audit document be kept on file in the office of the City Clerk/Treasurer.

ROLL CALL:  Ayes – All, the motion carried.

MINI-EXCAVATOR

RESOLUTION 2016-100   

Bielas/Adair, to approve the purchase of a 2006 Komatsu PC 35 mini excavator from Curtis Excavating in the amount of $21,000.

ROLL CALL:  Ayes – All, the motion carried.

REQUEST–OPTIMIST CLUB

RESOLUTION NO. 2016-101

Nowak/Bielas, to approve the request from the Optimist Club of Rogers City to conduct the annual Memorial Tree display in Westminster Park with the tree lighting to be held on November 23, 2016 at 6 p.m. with clean-up of the trees to occur in the spring.

ROLL CALL:  Ayes – All, the motion carried.

PARADE OF LIGHTS

>RESOLUTION NO 2016-102

McLennanAdair, to approve the request of the Rogers City Area Chamber of Commerce to hold the Light Up the Downtown Parade on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 6 p.m. with the parade route to commence at the Grambau Center on Huron Avenue, then to head east on Third Street to Ontario Street and then head west on Fourth Street ending at Michigan Avenue at the Presque Isle Historical Museum.

ROLL CALL:  Ayes – All, the motion carried.

Mayor Sobeck declared the meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
