Mathew Charles Peterman

Mathew Charles Peterman, 16, of Onaway, died at home Thursday, March 2, 2017.  The son of Walter and Tracey Sue (Landry) Peterman, Mathew was born December 27, 2000 in Cheboygan.

A lifelong resident of northern Michigan, Matt attended Onaway Elementary School and was currently a student at Onaway High School. Quiet and well-mannered, Mathew was a good student and a great kid. He really enjoyed playing trombone in the high school band and had participated in track and field, and basketball.

With a great love for the outdoors, Matt especially enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting and riding snowmobiles. Besides the outdoors, his other passion was for music. He enjoyed listening to rock music and playing guitar.

He loved tractors and was an avid reader. Having wonderful sense of humor, Mathew liked to joke around and loved watching the “Big Bang Theory.” He was a hardworking kid who enjoyed fixing things. Matt’s beautiful smile, his laugh and his quiet way will be sadly missed.

Marie; aunts, Jessica (Tom) Lunt of Colorado and Samantha (Jim) LaLonde of Onaway; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Memorial visitation was held Sunday, March 5, at the Chagnon Funeral Home with a memorial service that followed Monday, March 6, at the Onaway United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Carmen Cook officiated.  Matt’s final resting place will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Onaway.
