Nancy Elizabeth (Hemple) Sandford

Nancy Elizabeth (Hemple) Sandford went to be with the Lord February 15, 2017.

Nancy was born March 24, 1937 to the late William and Joyce Hemple in Flint and was a resident of Midland for the past 18 years.

She was an accomplished seamstress, carpenter and avid reader.  A creative soul and music lover with a talent for creating great meals.

During her long life, Nancy was an adventurer who, with her former husband Osmond, tended the Presque Isle Lighthouse for many years.

While at the lighthouse, Nancy developed a township park on the grounds where many community events were and still are held.

She is survived by her sister, Deborah (Kimbrough) Beaty; her daughters, Ruthanne (Clint) Shanafelt, Kimberly (Mike) Young, Margo (Frank) Wildfong and Susan (Loren) Hansen; and her son, Thomas (Leah) Sandford. She was a grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She attended Midland Baptist Church where her memorial services were held Saturday, February18.

She will be laid to rest at the Presque Isle Cemetary Friday, May 19 at 3 p.m.  Family and friends will gather in her honor at this time and welcome you to join them.
