Richard “Dick” Arthur Bunton

Richard “Dick” Arthur Bunton, 77, of Alpena passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at his home.

Richard was born March 18, 1940 in Rogers City to the late Arthur E. and Emogene (Larke) Bunton.

After graduation from Rogers City High School, he enlisted in the United States Army in December 1958. He served in Georgia and Alaska and was there when it became a state.

On October 5, 1963, he married Joyce Williams at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rogers City.

In March 1964, he was hired at Abitibi Corp. and retired as storekeeper after 35 years. Dick was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Joyce; three children, Ronald (Susan) Bunton, Joan (Jeff) Marek and Robert (Shawna) Bunton; grandchildren, Amanda, Marissa, Brett, Brian, Chloe, Liam and Connor; two great-grandsons; and two sisters, Patsy Erfurdt and Barbara (Ken) Rasche.

Dick was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Torsch.

Visitation took place Tuesday, February 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church until time of the funeral service with the Rev. Joshua Schultz officiating.

Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
