Lorene A. Dittmar

Lorene A. Dittmar, 98, of Millersburg, passed away peacefully at Nash Manor June 29, 2018. She was born June 3, 1920 in Ocqueoc to William and Martha (Sorgenfrei) Karsten.

Lorene graduated from Rogers City High School in 1938. Following graduation, she moved to Detroit to join the work force in support of World War II. She returned home and married Allen R. Dittmar at Immanuel Lutheran Church June 26, 1942.

Lorene enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and raspberry patch, but most of all she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and her “great-grands.” She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church on Moltke. She also served as Ocqueoc Township clerk for many years. Lorene volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Grammie-O was the reigning Scrabble champion of the Dittmar Farm except maybe when the “California Folks” came to visit.

She is survived by three children, Larry (Sheila Beam) Dittmar, Dean (Ann) Dittmar and Colleen (Clyde) Berry; nine grandchildren, Tim Dittmar, Sharon (Mitchell) Winfield, Don (Heidi Witucki) Dittmar, Dawn (Kelsey) Schell, S

helly Dittmar, Adam Berry, Richard (Karen Weiss) Berry, Richelle (Mark) Baylis and Michael (Jenna) Berry; 16 great-grandchildren; and her, sister, Delores (Richard) Bruning.

Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; grandson, Jeff Dittmar; a sister, Elmira Piechan; and two brothers, Wilfred Karsten and William Karsten.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Monday, July 2, with a prayer service that evening. Visitation resumed Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke Township until time of her funeral with the Rev. Eric Voigt officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
