Trudy J. Center

Trudy J. Center, 65, of Charlevoix, the daughter of Neil and Ruth (Pomranke) Whitsitt, passed away April 16, 2019 at her home. Trudy was born June 15, 1953 in Rogers City.

Trudy was raised in Millersburg attending Millersburg Elementary School through the sixth-grade. A 1971 graduate of Onaway High School and a 1973 graduate of Ferris State University, School of Cosmetology alum, she was blessed with lifelong school friendships, most notably the Ferris Foursome of Trudy, Jane, Jo-Ann and Cindy.

She married Charles “Chuck” D. Center September 24, 1983 at the Millersburg United Methodist Church.

Trudy is survived by her husband, Chuck of Charlevoix; a stepdaughter, Marci (William) Alexander; a step-granddaughter, Lackland of Madison, Wisconsin; a brother, Jeff (Colleen) Whitsitt; a nephew, Brian (Amy) Whitsitt; a niece, Tricia (Tom) Selke; great-nephews, Chae Whitsitt, Cody Whitsitt and Cole Selke, all of Millersburg; and great-nieces, Carlee Selke and Callee Selke, both of Millersburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Ruth Whitsitt; a brother, Roger N. Whitsitt; and a stepson, Britt Center.

Trudy had a very successful career i

n cosmetology, owning and operating The Center Salon of Petoskey for 40 plus years. She also was the original owner of Then and Now furniture resale of Petoskey. 

Truly her father’s daughter, she had a good business mind and was a passionate political junkie, always enjoying a heated political discussion.

Visitation was Friday, April 19 at the Mortensen Funeral Home of Charlevoix, with funeral services Holy Saturday, April 20, at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix with the Rev. Chip Sauer officiating.
