Allan “Al” Sutton

Allan “Al” Sutton, 86, of Black Lake, died Monday June 3, 2019 in Petoskey.

2419-Sutton-(2)

Al was born in Hazel Park and then resided in Sterling Heights before moving to his beloved Black Lake in 1990.  Preceded in death by his son, Michael, Al leaves his wife, Gwen; a daughter, Diane Cunningham; sons, Robert, Daniel (Monika), Lawrence (Melinda) and Allan; as well as stepsons, Kevin (Debi) Kuczynski, Steven Kuczynski and David (Carla) Kuczynski. He is also survived by a sister, Madeline Paholak; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Al served in the Army and National Guard and was a sheet metal mechanic by trade.  He was an avid bowler and fisherman, a volunteer for Hospice of the Straits in Cheboygan, and when he lived downstate, coached his kids in hockey. A big fan

of hockey and the Red Wings, Al once skated with his hockey hero, Gordie Howe. For many years Al worked as a park ranger at the Onaway State Park. He was the best grandpa any kid could ever have.

He loved his family and they loved him back. Al was a good man, a fair man, a kind man, a wonderful friend, and a faithful, loving husband. He will be missed for his caring ways and his great home cooking. As he requested, there will be no funeral service, but please say a little prayer for him.  He was a gift to us from God.

Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home.
