William Sinclair Mitchell

William Sinclair Mitchell, 94, of Alpena passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at his home.

William was born September 24, 1925 in Detroit to the late Frank and Anne (Sinclair) Mitchell. He served in the United States Army from May 1943 to March 1946 during World War II. William graduated from Wayne State University in June 1953 with a bachelor’s degree in English and history. On June 27, 1953, he married Grace E. McDaniel in Mexico, Missouri. He began a career as a conservation officer with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in 1956. William moved with his family to Rogers City in 1968. After 28 years of service, he retired in June 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; a son, David A. Mitchell; a daughter, Megan A. (Terence) LeTourneau; three grandsons, Bret, Evan and Alec LeTourneau; a brother, Alan (Peggy) Dansard of West Bloomfield; a niece, Anne (Rick) D’Angelo; and a great-niece, Lauren D’Angelo.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rogers City.
