Raymond “Ray” August Fuhrman

Raymond “Ray” August Fuhrman, 86, of Rogers City passed away June 11, 2021 at Medilodge in Rogers City. He was born July 24, 1934 in Rogers City to August and Rose (Sobeck) Fuhrman.

Ray married Kay Schefke December 11, 1954 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He sailed on the Great Lakes for 11 years then served as a police officer in Rogers City for 30 years. Ray was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in the woods, deer hunting and gardening. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; a daughter, Wendy of Rogers City; a son, Larry (Elizabeth) of Rogers City; three grandchildren, Heidi (Tony) Escareno of Harrisville, Ashley Plaunt of Cheboygan and Sarah (John) Talaske of Rogers City; 12 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Ashton, Dawson, Sophia, Caleb, Emma, Charlie, Ryleigh, Patrick, Isabella, Thea and Harper; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Ardini and Carol Fuhrman.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, August and Rose; a son, Dennis; a grandson, Bryan; and three siblings, Donald, Arthur and Betty.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday, June 22, from 1 p.m. until time of his memorial service at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Dr. Greg and Karen Zurakowski officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church, McLaren Homecare Hospice or friend’s choice in memory of Raymond Fuhrman.
