Catherine “Katie” F. Schaedig

Catherine “Katie” F. Schaedig, known to everyone as Katie, passed into the outstretched arms of her heavenly Father October 1, 2021 at the age of 94, joining her husband, Howard, son-in-law, Tom, and granddaughter, Melissa, who preceded her in death.

She was born to Louis and Katherine Mertz March 22, 1927 in Rogers City.

She married her high school sweetheart, Howard, June 5, 1948. They had two daughters, Pat (Wayne) Jackson of Whitehall and Carol (Tom) Radka of Rogers City. She worked for many years as the bookkeeper for Josephson’s Marine Supply located next to the home she grew up in and lived in all her life. Katie was a volunteer at Tendercare, now Medilodge, for over 30 years and continued to lovingly care for her fellow residents while at Medilodge of Hillman for the last five years of her life.

She is survived by her sister, Bea Skaggs of Cheboygan; two daughters, Carol Radka of Rogers City and Pat (Wayne) Jackson of Whitehall; four gran

dchildren, Lynn Radka of Traverse City, Paula (Tim) Idalski of Rogers City, Cristin Jackson of Cedar and Brian (Kate) Jackson of Whitehall; and seven great-grandchildren, Anna, Elise and Clara Idalski, and Max, Connor, Genevieve and Aneliese Jackson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Thursday, October 7, through time of her Mass with the Rev. James Siler officiating. The Rosary Society recited her rosary.

Interment took place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius School’s Angel Fund in Katie’s memory.
