Linda Lou Doan

Linda Lou Doan, 77, of Onaway, lost her battle with breast cancer Sunday, October 3, 2021 at her grandson and granddaughter’s home in Cheboygan. The daughter of Fred and Luella (Barager) Stiles, she was born in Petoskey December 31, 1943 and was raised in Onaway.

Linda worked in sales and finance for Brewbaker’s Furniture in Onaway for 22 years before retiring in 2010. A lifelong resident of Onaway, she was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Linda’s home was cozy, welcoming and spotlessly clean.  She was organized and had a place for everything.  Much like the inside of her home, Linda’s yard was perfect and charming. Her love of flower gardening and yard work was quite evident by her well-manicured lawn and all her beautiful blossoms. Linda enjoyed going for walks and loved to travel. She and her gal pals traveled to Hawaii, South Korea, and visited the Shipshewana Flea Market every summer. She enjoyed making quilts that she gave to her children and grandchildren.

Devoted to her Christian faith, Linda was a member of First Baptist Church in Onaway. She was a nurturing mother, a loving grandmother and a good friend. With her kind heart, she would do anything to help her family and friends. Quite set in her ways, Linda had a mind of her own and did things her way.  She will be missed by her children, Kirt (Mary) Doan of Onaway, Carla (Micky) Lindsey of Williston, Florida, and Lois (Bob) Brege and Dawn (Bill) Wodek, both of Cheboygan; grandchildren, Justin (Taylor) Lindsey, Kayli

n (Stan) Young, Kristin Lindsey, Cheyenne and Carlee Doan, Tayler Brege, Travis Brege (Ciara), Hayden and Lyllien Willis, Kynslee, Riley, Jaxson and Aspen Brege, Cody (Kourtney) Jarvis, Dalton Jarvis, David Wodek, Jake, DeAne, Chelsea, Alleigh, Christian, Liam and Levi Wodek, and Marguerite Spray; as well as her great-grandchildren, Myhia, Jace, Pearl, Violet and Ivan; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and travel partner, Mary Lou Winfield of Onaway.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob, John and Jim Stiles; and sisters, Dorothy Lawrence, Loretta Gagnon and Betty Hoeft.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Onaway (today) Thursday, October 7, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Josh Ferraiuolo will officiate. Linda’s final resting place will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy please consider a donation in memory of Linda to her family for a charity that will be decided upon.  Arrangements were in care of Chagnon Funeral Home.
