Wayne Louis Mulka

Wayne Louis Mulka, 80, of Rogers City passed away comfortably at home surrounded by his family October 2, 2021.

He was born August 14, 1941 in Rogers City to Louis and Sophie (Haselhuhn) Mulka.

On September 18, 1959 he married Linda Lou Lewis of Central Lake in Petoskey. Wayne served in the United States Navy (aboard a “tin can” during the Bay of Pigs Invasion) from July 1959 through August 1962. He returned to Rogers City and was employed at United States Steel until his retirement in 2000. Wayne and Linda enjoyed many years of camping, especially in Grand Marais. He was an avid deer hunter and salmon fisherman, he also enjoyed woodworking and making stained glass creations. He spent his last years watching anything Western on television.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda; five children, Suzanne (Roger) Fryske of Hawks, Rosolyn (Ron) Pauly of Rogers City, Mark (Kandi) Mulka of Waterford, Mitchell (Angie) Mulka of Posen and Renee (John) Leow of Marquette; 11 grandchildren, Heather (Matt) Cherrette, Alex King, Miranda King, Meranda (Travis) Zajkowski, Michelle (Matthew) Styma, Tina (Nicholas) Delekta, Tracy (Paul) Seghers, Martin Mulka, Elizabeth (Domnic Krawczak) Mulka, Sam Leow and Paul Leow; 10 great-grandchildren, Norah, Mason, Ella, Liam, Maxton, Elijah, Charlotte, Edilean, Amelia and Audrey; a sister, Joyce Ryther of Alpena; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Sophie; and a brother-in-law, Dick Ryther.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday, October 5 through time of his funeral where Rogers City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 607 offered a military tribute immediately following.

Interment took place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School’s Angel Fund.
