Dennis Ray Ganske

Dennis Ray Ganske, 68, of Black Lake, died at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey Saturday, December 24, 2022. The son of Alva and Audrey (O’Connor) Ganske, Dennis was born in Rogers City July 15, 1954. On September 12, 2012, he married Wendy J. Winans in Cheboygan, and they made their home at Black Lake.

Dennis “Fishguts” Ganske had a passion for fishing, Black Lake, and farming. He was a master Brook Trout fisherman his entire life, speared his first Black Lake Sturgeon at the age of 16, and his 17th sturgeon in 2019. He had a talent for crafting fish decoys which he shared with family and friends and donated to numerous organizations. Dennis enjoyed hunting locally as well as out West and in Alaska. He loved being in the woods, mushroom picking, and spending time with his family.

Surviving Dennis is his wife, Wendy, of Black Lake; daughters, Jessica (Kyle) and Maureen;  grandchildren, Lilyanne, Sidney, Penelopy and Sebastian; brother, Gerald (Peggy) of Black Lake; sisters, Geraldine Tulgetske of Holly, Janet (Dave) Gaines of Clarkston and Patricia (Tom) Davison of Florida as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cheryl Clark; and a brother, Patrick.

Cremation has taken place. Dennis will be honored by his family privately. Those planning an expression of sympathy please consider a donation in memory of Dennis to the University of Michigan Transplant Foundation.
