Kay M. Collins
Kay M. Collins, 100, passed peacefully to be with our Lord June 19, 2023.
She was born April 23, 1923, to Robert A. and Ruth Campbell, in Battle Creek. She grew up in Onaway on the family farm, where she graduated from Onaway High School in 1940.
Kay was a home economics teacher and retired from the Ypsilanti Public School System, where she enjoyed working with her students and their families.
She was an active member holding various positions with the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti, as well as involved in other missionary affiliations.
Kay loved her poodles and traveling in Michigan, the Great Smokey Mountains and New Mexico. She expressed
Kay is survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Campbell; a nephew, Dan (Melissa) Collins; a niece, Cindy (Paul) Blank-Reid; a nephew, Joe (Kathy) Campbell; grandnephews, Andrew (Stephanie) Campbell and Jonathan Campbell; grandniece, Kirsten Campbell; great-grandnieces, Grace and Lilly Campbell; and a goddaughter, Robyn (Michael) Maher.
She is preceded in death by her husband, U.E. John Collins; a stepson, Robert K. Collins; her parents; and a brother, Robert A. Campbell Jr.
There will be a small memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Kay wanted contributions to University of Michigan Medicine, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Fund – 307386 in memory of Kay Collins.
