James “Jim” F. LaLonde
James “Jim” F. LaLonde, 71, of Rogers City died August 16, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
He was born on March 27, 1952 to Earl and Caroline (Sorgenfrei) LaLonde.
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Bethany “Beth” Selke August 22, 1970 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke. He worked for the Great Lakes Fleet for a brief time and then worked at Michigan Limestone for 35 years before retiring in 2007. He was an avid hunter at Okefenokee Hunt Club. He was active in the Men’s Presque Isle Softball league and was inducted into the Presque Isle County Hall of Fame in 2010. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed sitting at camp watching the fish and reminiscing with family and friends. Jim was a caring, loving, and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather to his family and extended that to many of his family and friends.
Surviving him is his loving wife, Beth; his four children, Steff (Andy) Curtis, Jeremy (Bridget) LaLonde, Angie (Scott Olsen) LaLonde, and Nathan (Kathy) LaLonde. Jim’s nine grandchildren were his pride and joy and true blessing to him. He enjoyed every minute spent with them. His grandchildren are, Laine and Dawson Curtis (Sydney), Grace and Isaac LaLonde, Chase (Nichelle), Ashleigh and Ryan Morgan, and Terri Curtis and Nora LaLonde. Also surviving is his brother, Daniel (Kelly) LaLonde; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Caroline LaLonde; and a brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Linda) LaLonde.
Per Jim’s wishes there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
