George Thomas “Tom” Paulus
George Thomas “Tom” Paulus, 85, of Alanson, died September 11, 2023.
Tom was born to George and Daisy (Hulbert) Paulus in Petoskey, August 8, 1938.
After high school he sailed on the Bradley out of Calcite in Rogers City for two years. On June 20, 1959, he married Evelyn Smolinski.
Tom worked for A&P grocery chain and then went to work for Giant Supermarket in Petoskey in 1971. He retired in 1991.
Since 2000 he spent the winter months in Naples, Florida. He enjoyed working in the yard and flower gardens, duck hunting, collecting duck decoys and Ducks Unlimited pictures.
He is survived by the love of his life, Evelyn Paulus; his children, Cathy Paulus of Mt. Pleasant, Carol Budnik of Rochester, Minnesota and Mark (Sheila) Paulus of Battle Creek; a brother, John (Carol) Paulus of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Jeff Budnik
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, JoAnn Tischler; and a son-in-law, Thomas Budnik.
There will be a memorial service at Stone Funeral Home Monday, September 18, at 11 a.m. with a one-hour gathering prior to the service. The Rev. Dave Behling will officiate.
