Paul Ennest

Paul Ennest, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully March 5, 2024, at the age of 72. Born June 6, 1951, in Rogers City, Paul’s life was a testament to resilience and compassion. He was a beloved son to the late Harley and Barbara (Szymanski) Ennest and a cherished brother, uncle, and friend.

Paul’s academic journey led him to Ferris State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors. His adventurous spirit and love for the water guided him to a career where he proudly sailed the Great Lakes as a merchant marine for several years, embracing the challenges of the open waters with determination and grace.

Throughout his life, Paul faced many adversities, yet he never allowed them to overshadow his capacity to care for others. He was a source of strength and support, always extending

a helping hand to those in need. His selfless nature was the cornerstone of his character, and it left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Paul is predeceased by his beloved siblings, Kathleen Charlton and William Ennest. He is survived by his devoted brother, John (Rebecca) Ennest; and a lineage of nieces and nephews, Chad, Jeremiah, Michael, and Tracy, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness. Paul also leaves behind a joyous assembly of great-nieces and nephews, Dylan, John, Ava, Andrew, Blake, Miah, Nora, Corwin and Deardra, whose lives were enriched by his gentle wisdom and unwavering support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church Friday, March 8, at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior starting at 10 a.m. The Rev. Charles Donajkowski will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency. Arrangements have been entrusted with McWilliams Funeral Home.
