Ann Frances Szczerowski
Ann Frances Szczerowski, 59, of Hawks passed away at home surrounded by her family September 6, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Rogers City to John and Rita (Matuszewski) Kleiber February 14, 1965.
Ann graduated from Rogers City High School with honors in 1983. She attained her associate degree at Alpena Community College and bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor University.
On November 4, 1989, she married Stanley “Stosh” Szczerowski at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Metz. Ann worked hard in numerous job positions throughout the years, eventually leading her to become vice president/chief financial officer at Huron State Bank.
In her free time, she enjoyed maintaining her large garden and beautiful flower beds. Along with that, there was always an open-door policy at the house where she and Stosh entertained any friends and family that would pop-in. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting with family and friends in the garage while enjoying a Milwaukee’s Best Lite and solving all the world’s problems (especially with her niece Alicia).
When she could, she loved to go to the family cottage at Lake May. There, she enjoyed fishing and hosting family get-togethers. Her unwavering faith led her to be an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Throughout the years, she participated on the finance committee, volunteered for church-sponsored events, and directed the choir. She was described by a close friend as one of few people that could fix a carburetor in a lawn mower, rewire a motherboard in a washing machine, do taxes, cook dinner and weed a garden, all in the same day.
She is survived by her husband, Stosh; two children, Vinny (Emily) and Veronica (Jacob Hein); her parents, John and Rita Kleiber of Hawks; a sister, Sue Berg (Ron Valley) of Lachine; a brother Mike (Sue Smith) of Hawks; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann (Howard) Madsen of Rogers City, Dennis (Celeste) Szczerowski of Big Rapids, Mary (Dan) Kirby of Charlotte, and Norma (Bob) Ellenberger of Onaway, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her in-laws, John and Ida (Micketti) Szczerowski of Rogers City.
