Evelyn “Ev” Rosalie (Smolinski) Paulus
Evelyn “Ev” Rosalie (Smolinski) Paulus, 85, of Alanson and most recently of Battle Creek, died Sunday, October 20, 2024. Ev was born the eighth of 12 children to Joseph and Emily (Chalupniczak) Smolinski in Rogers City June 23, 1939.
She married George Thomas “Tom” Paulus June 20, 1959. Ev retired from Great Lakes Gas Transmission Company after 27 years of service. She and Tom spent the winter months in Naples, Florida. She enjoyed reading, playing golf, and loved her family. Her great-grandchildren made her face light up.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Paulus of Mt. Pleasant, Carol Budnik of Rochester, Minnesota and Mark (Sheila) Paulus of Battle Creek; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jeff Budnik, Kari (Alex) and Siena Heggen, Megan (Alex) Paulus, Kyle (Cheyann) and Myles and Della Paulus, Ryan (Taylor) and Scarlett Paulus; her brother, Stanley (Martha); and sister, Dolores Dorer.
She is preceded in death by her husband Tom; a son-in-law, Thomas Budnik; parents, Joseph and Emily; brothers and sisters, Blanche, Alphonse, Martha, Mary Ann, Angie, Lucille, Edwin, Clarence and David.
