Duane Neil Bade

Duane Neil Bade, 87, of Rogers City, went to heaven on Good Friday, April 18, 2025 while surrounded by family. He was born April 16, 1938 to Alfred and Mildred (Schroeder) Bade of Hawks. 

On August 23, 1958 he married Rita Pines at St. John Lutheran Church in Rogers City. 

Duane spent a few years working at Abitibi and sailing, before he and Rita bought the family farm in Hawks where they started off with dairy cattle, and then raised beef cattle and cash crops. Later on, he and Rita enjoyed winters in Florida where they made many new friends. Duane enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and playing cards, among other things. He is survived by his wife Rita of over 66 years; children, Kari (Jerry Wontorcik) Bade of Alpena, Bill (Karen) Bade of Hawks and Carmen (Tony) Howard of Florida; grandchildren, Chandra Romel, Haley (Shaun) Brown, Kristina (Chuck) Mazzarone, Ian Bade, Logan Fleming and Tori Howard; great-grandchildren, Abel, Greysen, Elias, and Brooks Brown, and David and James Mazzarone, and a brother, Durward Bade of Alpena.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Melvin and Elroy; and a sister, Arlene Kowalewsky.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday. Visitation resumed at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Belknap Wednesday until time of his funeral with the Rev. Paul Boerger officiating. 

Burial followed at St. Michael Lutheran Cemetery, with a luncheon afterwards.

Memorials may be given to St. Michael Lutheran Church or a charity of friend’s choice.
