Robert “Bob” Walter
Robert “Bob” Walter, was born July 31, 1945 to Frank and Harriet Walter and grew up on the farm south of Millersburg. Growing up, he was active in the cattle 4-H club. He was a 1963 graduate of Onaway High School and served the county in the United States Navy. He was married to Merilee Thompson for 55 years. He is survived by his children, David (Chery) Walter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nancy (Mark) Pierce of Sand Lake and Dan (Lindsay) Walter of Charlevoix; and six grandchildren, Jacob, Kailey, Jordan, Stephanie, Teddy and Iver.
Bob raised his family in Harbor Springs, retiring in 2007 as a trade carpenter, then returned to Millersburg to live on the family farm. His hobbies included woodworking and cabinetry. Some of his projects can be seen at the Millersburg Historical Depot. He enjoyed interacting and sharing the details of Millersburg at the Historic Depot. He was a member of the Harbor Springs American Legion for 53 years and 18 years of the Eagles of Millersburg. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Millersburg Area Historical Society or the Millersburg Eagles 4482. The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
