Evelyn Laura Lucash Meharg-Simonich
Evelyn Laura Lucash Meharg-Simonich, 97, passed away May 20, 2026 peacefully in D’Iberville, Mississippi. She was born in Freeburg, Illinois December 27, 1928, she was a 1946 graduate of Freeburg High School, she attended Illinois Commercial College and majored in business, she also attended Patricia Stevens finishing school (modeling) in St. Louis, Missouri.

Evelyn wore many titles throughout her life. She volunteered for the United Service Organizations (USO) during World War II, She worked as a model on short films, as an executive legal secretary at numerous law firms, and later after moving to Texas, she became a law enforcement corrections officer until her retirement before moving to the MS Gulf Coast.
She learned to pilot a plane in her early 50s, was an exceptional ballroom dancer throughout her life, loved interior designing and traveling. She visited 23 countries in her lifetime. According to her, her most memorable moment was a pilgrimage to Rome to see the Pope and visiting the Holy Land, and attending U.S. Presidential Ball. She was of the Catholic Faith.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Georgia (Wilderman) Lucash; her husbands, Harry Meharg and George Simonich; her sister,
She is survived by her loving and devoted children, John Meharg (Sally), Angie New, Patrick Meharg and Michael Meharg; and her stepchildren, Matthew Simonich (Lisa), Hugh Simonich (Christina) and Mary Fritzgerald (Edward); a total of 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren all who will miss her deeply. A visitation and prayer service was held Thursday, May 28, at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., West Jackson County in Biloxi. Interment followed in Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
