Robert M. Henning
Robert M. Henning, 61, passed away peacefully in his home in Battle Creek March 7, 2026.

Born in 1965 to Lucille and Robert Henning, Robert started his life in Plymouth with three older sisters. During the summer, the family would travel up north and fish at their cabin on Rainy River. When he was in eighth grade, the family moved to Onaway where Robert graduated from Onaway High School in the Class of 1983.
Robert worked many jobs in his life, but he worked the longest with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. He went on to work for Fort Custer in Battle Creek where he lived and worked until he retired from the state of Michigan in 2021.
As an avid hunter and fisherman, Robert loved being outside in the woods or on the river. One of his favorite spots to fish was on the dock at his mother’s house with his favorite fishing buddy, his daughter. He was always down to drink a cup of coffee and share fishing or hunting stories. He also loved traveling and John Wayne movies (as he had almost all of them). Christmas was his favorite holiday. He had many fond memories of going to his grandparent’s house and decorating for Christmas, a love which he passed down to his daughter.
Robert will be missed by many and will be remembered as a great friend and great father.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Grace (Michael) Yeomans of Mt. Plea
In accordance with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. His final resting place will be at North Allis Township Cemetery. A graveside service will be held there at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, with a Celebration of Life to follow at Tower Hall.\
