Charles “Chuck” Everett Wilmoth
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Everett Wilmoth of St. Johns, who departed this life peacefully July 27, 2026, at the age of 93. Chuck was born September 20, 1932, in Detroit, to Orie and Genevieve Wilmoth.
Chuck was a dedicated husband to Helen, his loving wife for 74 years and devoted father to his four children, Doug (Jackie), Randy (Cheryl), Steve (Karen) and Kelli (Todd). He also took great pride in his 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
As a 100 percent disabled veteran, Chuck was a survivor of nuclear testing in Nevada during the early 1950s and beat all odds to live a long and prosperous life. He spent a career in law enforcement and reached the pinnacle of his career as chief of police of the Garden City Police Department, and public safety director of the Romulus Police Department. He was a graduate of the Northwestern Traffic Institute in Evanston, Illinois and Mercy College in Detroit. He was very proud of his time spent as a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
His favorite activities included carpentry, golf, furniture repair and refinishing, fishing in Canada and Alaska, attending auctions, and sitting on the front porch of his Black Lake home.
Chuck’s life was a testament to love, family, generosity and helping others. Charles Everett Wilmoth was a great man and made this world a better place. He will be missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In honor of Chuck’s life, the family asks that you share a moment of kindness with someone in need.
