Barbara “Barb” Curtis

Barbara “Barb” Curtis, 82, of Onaway, passed away peacefully at MediLodge in Rogers City Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Born in Onaway June 1, 1944, Barb was the daughter of Carl and Irene Badgero. She grew up in Onaway as one of eight children in a close-knit family. In her youth, Barb participated in the local “Queen of All Seasons” pageant-similar to today’s Miss Onaway-where she was crowned Queen of Autumn, a charming memory warmly cherished by her family.

For many years, Barb was a familiar face in the local business community as the owner and operator of the Sears store in Onaway. Beyond her career, her life was centered on devotion to her family. When her parents’ health declined, Barb, along with her brothers and sisters, cared for her mother, Irene, through her struggle with Parkinson’s disease, and her father, Carl, during his battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her selfless dedication and gentle care during those years reflected her deep love and compassionate heart.

Barb is survived by her daughter, Julie Curtis of Holland; her son, Brian Curtis of Eureka, Ill

inois; her brothers, David (Carol) Badgero, Mark (Robyn) Badgero and Gary Badgero; and her sisters, Carlene Chagnon, Sandra (Bob) Brenner and Dawn (Dennis) Willey. She also leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Irene Badgero; her sister, Margaret Badgero in 1965; her sister-in-law, Audrey Badgero; her brother-in-law, Napoleon “Nap” Chagnon; and her daughter-in-law, Donita Curtis.

Memorial contributions in Barb’s honor may be made to Hospice of Michigan. Honoring Barb’s wishes, family and friends will gather privately to honor and celebrate Barb’s life.
