Alcona up Friday for 6-7 Huron cagers

?If we are going to do anything in the tournament we are going to have to do better blocking out and avoiding turnovers,? said Hurons varsity basketball coach Karl Grambau as his team enters the final weeks of the regular season. The Hurons play in Alcona Friday, the site of the district tournament, after Tuesday?s contest with Newberry was cancelled due to the weather.

(The Advance was informed after press time Wednesday morning that the Newberry game will be rescheduled for Feb. 13 at Rogers City.)

Grambau said the team is doing much better in many areas but must increase its defensive intensity if it will be a force come March. Last Friday, the Hurons improved to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in the Straits Area Conference with a 76-58 win over the Onaway Cardinals. The Hurons led 16-10 after the firs
