Mary Felicia Smith
Mary Felicia Smith, of Cedarville, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Cedar Cove Assisted Living in Cedarville.
Mary was born to Cornelius “C.C.” and Mary (Spencer) Faivre in Grove City, Pennsylvania January 3, 1922. She married the love of her life, Joseph “J.T.” “Joe” T. Smith July 5, 1944, as J.T. was off to flight school. Mary and Joe exchanged letters and telegrams as J.T. served in the European Theater as a B-17 pilot. Their son, Robert was weeks old as the family was reunited. Four more children were born to Mary and Joe, Valerie, Bruce, Barry and Ronnie. Mary and family moved from Pennsylvania to West Virginia, then to Cedarville and Rogers City as J.T. was transferred as an accountant at U.S. Steel Michigan Limestone Operations. Mary was a dedicated wife, homemaker, and patriotic person of faith.
Mary Felicia was always ready to travel, sing and dance! Mary met interesting people through activities in church, Federated Women’s Club, and Eastern Star. Both Mary and Joe were always ready to play bridge and cribbage, or for golfing and bowling with friends. Travel or go to dinner? You bet!
Mary’s memory will be cherished by her family, a son Robert A. and Barbara (nee Simmons) Smith of Cedarville, a son Bruce and Kathy (nee Robbins) Smith of Muskegon and Cedarville, and a daughter Valerie (Ernest Lynn) Wolters of Mt. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Theodore Smith in 2004; sons, Barry in 1973 and Ronnie in 1982. In addition, her parents C.C. and Mary (Spencer) Faivre, a sister, Naomi Williams Downs; and a brother, Franklyn Faivre also passed.
The family gathered to say “Farewell” at the Memorial Park Cemetery on Larke Street in Rogers City Wednesday, June 12. Chaplain Dianne Myers officiated. Mary’s family appreciated the staff and volunteers of Cedar Cove, and McLaren Hospice staff for their supportive care and love. Memorials are suggested for Cedar Cove Assisted Living P.O.
