Patricia Lynn Lawes

Patricia Lynn Lawes, 63,  of Gaylord, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully February 7, 2026, after lifelong battles with cancer. Born in Ishpeming, January 10, 1963, to Gene and Patricia McLeod (Taylor). Her childhood was joyfully spent in Rogers City with her siblings. She then graduated high school in 1981. On August 22,1982, she married William Lawes whom together they had four boys. 

Patricia’s greatest pride was her four sons, Nathan (Kristan)  of Johannesburg, Aaron (Mandi) of Gaylord, Brandon (Liza) of Gaylord and Tyler (Sarah) of Gaylord; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her adopted daughter, Jocelyn (Jozzy) whom she raised with love and devotion. 

Patricia is survived by her mother, Patricia Taylor; siblings Ric Paquin of Elk

Rapids, Alfred (Buddy) McLeod of Posen and William Alexander of Oscoda; and her second husband, Jerry Cross. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene McLeod; and her first husband, William Lawes.

Patricia’s spirit of love, warmth and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be honored at a Celebration of Life for a “Big Ass Barbecue” service at her home Saturday, July 25, at 5 p.m. Gather to celebrate her life, share stories, and remember the incredible impact she had on so many. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
