Carol J. Hollar
Carol J. Hollar, a lifelong learner and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully April 3, 2026, at the age of 93, in Linden. Carol was the daughter of Clarence Johnson and Vernace (Peabody) Johnson. Carol attended Michigan State University where she majored in education, and met her husband to be and love of her life, Robert “Bob” George Hollar.

Graduating in 1954, she married Robert one year later. They moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Through college and Robert’s military service, they created enduring friendships which lasted through the years.
The couple moved to Grosse Pointe after Robert completed his military service. Over the course of her life, she earned three master’s degrees, a testament to her belief that education was not simply a phase of life but a lifelong pursuit. She never stopped seeking knowledge, and in fact, pursued architecture as her next field of study. She and her husband, Bob went on to build several homes throughout their marriage of 70 years. Her dedication inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Leigh (Boyt) Johnson; her son, John (Suzanne) Hollar; grandchildren, William Hollar and Samantha (Neils Aerts) Hollar; and a great-granddaughter, Mavis Louise Hollar.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Robert G. Hollar; and her brother, Kenneth, and sister-in-law, Lois.
